5 Key Purposes & 2 supporting Groups

The Bible has five common purposes throughout. These five purposes committed to God help us to fulfill God’s purpose for us and to keep us balanced and whole spiritually. I believe a Spirit Led, Acts 2 and five fold fold Purpose Driven model, is the most effective model.

Evangelism

Matthew 24:14 (NLT) And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then, finally, the end will come.

* Evangelism communicates God’s Word and is sharing Jesus with others.

Worship

Mark 12:30 (NIV) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'

* Worship celebrates God’s presence and is expressing love to God.

Fellowship

Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

* Fellowship assimilates God’s family into the body and is connecting with the family of God.

Discipleship

Col. 2:7 (NLT)Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him, so you will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught....

* Discipleship educates God’s people about who He is and is growing people spiritually.

Ministry

Ephes. 4:16 (NLT)Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part

does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

* Ministry demonstrates God’s love and is meeting the needs of others with His love.

Management

Matthew 25:21 (NIV)"...'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things…!'

* All that it takes to make a church function must be managed. This requires organization and structure in order for ministry to flow. Management does not dictate the ministry it helps support it, so ministry can succeed.

leadership

Ephes. 4:11-12 (NIV)It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, [12] to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

* Ultimately, we are to be Holy Spirit led. Yet, God calls the Church to be led by those He calls to do so. This means cooperative fellowship and submission by those who follow, requires love and respect by those who lead.
